While the BSA resolution was only a half measure (gay youth are permitted but gay adult leaders are not) the amount of homophobic nonsensical shit the BSA has gotten online, on their facebook page and twitter, make me want to defend them. I’ve read tweets and comments of people taking their sons out of the program because of the new policy. This decision will cost them THOUSANDS of dollars from faith-based orgs, and they changed the policy anyway. It’s still not ideal, but I’m glad they did what they did. To gay activists: don’t rest on your laurels and keep pressuring the BSA to allow adult gay men. But please recognize that this decision is a big sacrifice financially for the BSA.
